The following figure shows the configuration in which one volume is functioning as both an XRC
for Mainframe P-VOL and a ShadowImage z/OS S-VOL (source volume) and another volume is
functioning as both an XRC for Mainframe S-VOL (secondary volume) and a ShadowImage z/OS
S-VOL (source volume). In this configuration, data is copied within the primary site using
ShadowImage z/OS, and it is copied from the primary site to the secondary site using XRC for
Mainframe, and after that it is copied within the secondary site using ShadowImage z/OS.

Using XRC for Mainframe in Conjunction with Hitachi FlashCopy Mirroring for
Mainframe
XRC for Mainframe can be used in conjunction with Hitachi FlashCopy Mirroring for Mainframe to
maintain data in the secondary site and the primary site for disaster recovery and data migration
purposes.

Mirroring for Mainframe S-VOL
The following figure shows the configuration in which a volume is functioning as both an XRC for
Mainframe P-VOL and a Hitachi FlashCopy Mirroring for Mainframe S-VOL. In this configuration,
data is copied within the primary site using Hitachi FlashCopy Mirroring for Mainframe, and it is
copied from the primary site to the secondary site using XRC for Mainframe.
