Verification Procedure Following Installation and Setup
If some tasks are left unfinished during installation and setup of Business Continuity Manager,
Business Continuity Manager cannot be used. You can use either of the following methods to check
whether installation and setup have been completed properly:
• Check the execution result of the YKINSCHK command.
• Check the information displayed in the Installation Verification Summary panel.
If the check result indicates that some tasks have not been completed, follow the provided instructions
to complete them.

panel, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software Reference
Guide.
In the JCL execution example that follows, the execution result of the YKINSCHK command is output
to dd-name SYSTSPRT. If the job terminates with a return code other than 0, check the execution
result that is output to SYSTSPRT.

Upgrading Business Continuity Manager
This section explains how to upgrade Business Continuity Manager.
When multiple versions of Business Continuity Manager exist on a system, you must check the
items in “When Multiple Versions of Business Continuity Manager Exist” (page 107) before starting
the upgrade process.
What to Check Before Upgrading
Checking Licenses
For Business Continuity Manager 5.5 or later, you cannot use license keys obtained for Business
Continuity Manager 5.3 or earlier. You must obtain a license key for BC Z Manager version 5.5
or later.
Checking Environment Variables
Table 22 (page 46) lists the Business Continuity Manager environment variables that are used
when you perform an upgrade installation. Check the settings for these environment variables
before you upgrade.
