Verifying host agent connectivity to a command device
Before you begin the host agent installation, you must create and assign command devices, so
that the connectivity is established between the XP or the P9000 disk arrays and your host agent.
If a command device is not created and presented to the host, the RAID Manager Library version
is not displayed when you request an host agent update from HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor.
Use HP XP P9000Info to verify if a command device is presented to your HP XP P9000 Performance
Advisor host agent.
IMPORTANT:
HP XP P9000Info is available in the Tools folder on the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
installation disk 2, and must be executed separately.
HP does not recommend connecting a command device through multiple paths.
The following commands can be used before and after installing the Windows and UNIX host
agents to verify if the command devices are connected:
To verify if a command device is presented to a Windows host: In your host's command prompt
window, type xpinfo.exe - i | find -CM.

Where, CM in the Type indicates a command device.
You can also test the host connectivity to a command device during the Windows host agent
installation. For more information, see “Installing the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor
Windows host agents (page 72).
To verify if a command device is presented to a UNIX host: In the command prompt window
of your host, type xpinfo -i.
