HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor Software v6.0 Install Guide

Executing the UNIX host agent installer
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding with the installation, use HP XP P9000Info to verify that the
connectivity to the command device is established. If you are performing an upgrade, the
connectivity to the command device must already exist. For more information, see “Verifying host
agent connectivity to a command device (page 43).
To execute the UNIX host agent installer:
1. Telnet to the remote host as a root user.
2. Navigate to the tmp directory or to the folder, where you have copied the host agent files.
3. Untar the host agent .tar file:
tar -xvf XPPA_HA_<os_name>.tar
4. Run the installation script: unix_local_install.sh
The installation script, for UNIX hosts, displays a series of prompts. Respond to these prompts
as appropriate for your environment.
5. Click Y to continue.
Enabling the UNIX host agent to use IPv6
Enable your HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor UNIX host agent to use IPv6 as the communication
protocol, if the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor is also enabled for IPv6. Ensure that both the
HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents communicate using the same protocol, either
IPv4 or IPv6. Also, configure the HTTP port that the host agent should use to communicate with HP
XP P9000 Performance Advisor.
To enable IPv6 and configure the HTTP port that UNIX host agent should use:
1. When you are prompted to enable or disable IPv6, enter Y in the command prompt window
to enable IPv6.
Enter N (default option) if you do not want the UNIX host to use IPv6 as a communication
protocol.
2. Based on whether you have enabled or disabled IPv6 for your host agent, enter the
corresponding DNS or IP address of the management station. The UNIX host agent will use
the selected protocol type to establish communication with the management station.
Based on the DNS or IP address that you provide, the corresponding protocol is established
as the default communication protocol.
3. Enter the HTTP Port number that the host agent should use to communicate with HP XP P9000
Performance Advisor on the management station.
The port number that you enter must be the same as that provided when installing HP XP
P9000 Performance Advisor on the management station. Port 80 is the default port number,
which you can retain or provide a different port number.
4. Press Enter to continue.
The installation wizard installs the HP XP P9000 Performance Advisor UNIX host agent folder
in the following location: /opt/xppa/hostagent.
For more information on enabling IPv6 on your host, see the important notes in “Enabling IPv6 and
configuring HTTP port for the Windows host agent” (page 73).
