HP P9000 Business Copy for Mainframe Systems User Guide (AV400-96386, October 2011)
Access Synchronous Z M-VOL may take extra time depending on the time for copying process
of the Business Copy Z pair.
• The Quick Restore operation can be performed on a Business Copy Z pair when the Continuous
Access Synchronous Z pair is suspended.
NOTE: When using PPRC, you cannot distinguish between the Split status and the V-Split status.
If you use PPRC to perform operations on volumes shared by Continuous Access Synchronous Z
and Business Copy Z, you need to do one of the following:
• Specify MPS00 for the PRIM parameter of the CSUSPEND command to perform Steady Split.
In this case the pair status will not be V-Split.
• Use the Remote Web Console to confirm whether the pair status is Split or V-Split.
For details, see the section on sharing volumes with Business Copy Z in the HP P9000 Continuous
Access Synchronous for Mainframe Systems User Guide.
Continuous Access Journal Z
Continuous Access Journal Z volumes can be shared with Business Copy Z volumes.
• The Quick Restore operation can be performed on a Business Copy Z pair when the Continuous
Access Journal Z pair is suspended.
• When you query pair status for Business Copy Z and Continuous Access Journal Z shared
volumes using PPRC, the system reports Business Copy Z status. Use Business Continuity
Manager to query Continuous Access Journal Z’s pair status.
• A Continuous Access Journal Z secondary volume that is also the Business Copy Z source
volume can be configured so that Business Copy Z backup copies are made at a specific time
using the At-Time Split operation. For more information, see the section on splitting Business
Copy Z pairs at a specific time in the HP P9000 Continuous Access Journal User Guide.
For more information, see the appendix on sharing Business Copy Z volumes in the HP P9000
Continuous Access Journal for Mainframe Systems User Guide.
If you specify the S-VOL of Continuous Access Journal Z as the S-VOL of Business Copy Z, you can
configure the time to back up the S-VOL of Continuous Access Journal Z using the At-Time Split
function of Business Continuity Manager. This is called Split processing (see Figure 4 (page 19)).
The time at which you execute Split processing is called the Split time.
