NOTE: Consider the following when using the At-Time Split function with Continuous Access
Journal Z and Business Copy Z:
• The specified Split time remains in effect after Split processing on Business Copy Z pair. If you
execute Split processing again on a Business Copy Z consistency group that previously
underwent Split processing, you must remove the previously registered Split time and then
specify a new Split time.
• If you execute the At-Time Split function on the following configurations, you must enable
transfer of time stamp of all Continuous Access Synchronous Z pairs in journal group. Unless
you enable transfer of time stamp, data consistency of Business Copy Z pairs in the consistency
group is not guaranteed.
Business Copy Z pair is linked to S-VOL of Continuous Access Synchronous Z in cascade
configuration using Continuous Access Journal Z and Continuous Access Synchronous Z.
Business Copy Z pair is linked to S-VOL of Continuous Access Synchronous Z in multi target
configuration of Continuous Access Journal Z and Continuous Access Synchronous Z (only
when the configuration changes to cascade configuration during disaster recovery).
• The registered Split time is canceled when a planned termination of the RCU takes place or
the power supply is turned off.
• You cannot execute Reverse Resync of Continuous Access Journal Z when Split time is specified.
If you want to execute Reverse Resync, you must cancel all Split time of Business Copy Z pairs
linked to any relevant restore journal group. For details about Reverse Resync, see Business
Continuity Manager user's guide.
• When Split time is registered to consistency group of Business Copy Z, you cannot create,
re-synchronize, and split pairs from Business Continuity Manager. When you do these
operations, cancel Split time first. When Split time is registered to consistency group of Business
Copy Z, you can remove pairs. If you remove the following pairs, the registered Split time will
be canceled.
All Business Copy Z pairs that belong to consistency group of Business Copy Z.
All Continuous Access Journal Z pairs that belong to restore journal group of Continuous
Access Journal Z.
Continuous Access Synchronous Z and Continuous Access Journal Z
A Business Copy Z S-VOL can be shared with shared Continuous Access Synchronous Z and
Continuous Access Journal Z volumes in certain configurations.
