HP P9000 Business Copy for Mainframe Systems User Guide (AV400-96386, October 2011)
NOTE: Check the following:
• If the reverse copy or quick restore operation ends abnormally, the pair status changes to
Suspend. In this case, the S-VOL is read/write-enabled for all hosts, but the data in the S-VOL
is not guaranteed. The T-VOL remains write-disabled (read-only) and data is not guaranteed.
The status of other Business Copy Z pairs sharing the same S-VOL does not change.
• After a reverse copy or quick restore operation is performed, make sure that the pair status
changes to duplex before performing a Cnt Ac-S Z resume pair operation. If you perform the
Cnt Ac-S Z resume pair operation before the pair status changes to duplex, the command
(resume pair operation) will be rejected.
Delete pairs
You can delete a pair when you no longer need it. When you delete a pair, the S-VOL and T-VOL
return to their Simplex state, though their data remains intact. After deletion, both volumes are
available for use in another pair.
Prerequisite information
The T-VOL’s processor blade, whose allocation was changed for creating pair, is allocated again
to the former processor blade when the pair is deleted. If the previous processor blade was removed,
an appropriate processor blade is allocated.
Procedure 9 To delete a pair
1. To synchronize the S-VOL and T-VOL before deleting the pair:
a. Wait until all write I/Os to the S-VOL are complete.
b. Set the S-VOL offline.
c. Split the pair. This copies differential data to the T-VOL.
2. Click Actions > Local Copy > Business Copy for Mainframe/Compatible FlashCopy/Compatible
FlashCopy SE > Pair Operation to open the Pair Operation window.
3. Change to Modify mode by clicking the icon.
4. In the tree, select the appropriate CU image. Related volumes and pairs display in the volume
list.
5. Select the pair(s) you want to delete, right-click, and select Delete Pair from the menu. The
Delete Pair dialog box displays.
6. If you selected a pair that you do not want to delete, select the pair on the Delete Pair dialog
box, right-click, then click Delete. This removes the pair from the deletion list.
