HP P9000 Business Copy for Mainframe Systems User Guide (AV400-96386, October 2011)

Table 8 Pair status definitions (continued)
T-VOL accessS-VOL accessHost statusDescriptionStatus
Read/write-disabledRead/write-enabledS-VOL =
PPRIMARYT-VOL =
PSECONDRY
The initial copy operation is complete,
the volumes are paired. The system
begins update copy operations from
Duplex
S-VOL to T-VOL as needed. The S-VOL
and T-VOL in Duplex status may not be
identical.
Read/write-disabledRead/write-enabledS-VOL =
PPRI-PNDGT-VOL
= PSEC-PNDG
The pair split operation in the steady split
mode has begun. Any remaining
differential data is copied to the T-VOL.
SP Pend
When these updates are complete, the
pair is split. The split T-VOL is identical
to the S-VOL at the time of the split.
Read and write.
Can be varied
online.
Read/write-enabledS-VOL =
PPRI-PNDGT-VOL
= PSEC-PNDG
The pairsplit operation in the quick split
mode has begun. S-VOL differential data
is only copied to the T-VOL in the
background. Pairs cannot be deleted.
V-Split
Read and write.
Can be varied
online.
Read/write-enabledS-VOL =
PPRI-PNDGT-VOL
= PSEC-PNDG
The pair is split. The system stops
performing update copy operations from
S-VOL to T-VOL. Write I/Os are
Split
accepted for T-VOLs. The system keeps
track of updates to split S-VOLs and
T-VOLs, so that the pair can be
resynchronized quickly.
Read/write-disabledRead/write-enabledS-VOL =
PPRI-PNDGT-VOL
= PSEC-PNDG
The pairresync operation has begun. The
system does not accept write I/Os for
T-VOLs. When a split pair is
Resync
resynchronized in normal mode, the
system copies only S-VOL differential
data to the T-VOL. When a Suspended
pair is resynchronized, the system copies
the entire S-VOL to the T-VOL. No update
copy operations are performed during
the pairresync operation.
Read/write-disabledRead/write-disabledS-VOL =
PPRI-PNDGT-VOL
= PSEC-PNDG
The reverse pairresync operation has
begun. The system copies only T-VOL
differential data to the S-VOL. No update
Resync-R
copy operations are performed during
the reverse or quick restore pairresync
operation.
Read/write-disabledRead/write-enabledS-VOL =
PPRI-PNDGT-VOL
= PSEC-PNDG
The pair is suspended by the system. The
system continues accepting host updates
to the S-VOL. Update copy operations
Suspend
are stopped to the T-VOL. The system
marks the entire S-VOL track map as
differential data, meaning that the entire
S-VOL is copied to the T-VOL when the
suspended pair is resynchronized.
* Starting time of the copy depends on the numbers of pairs and the system environment.
CAUTION: When you execute DEVSERVE to a read/write disabled volume, “INTERVENTION
REQUIRED” is returned. However, if you have created pairs with the volumes online, and then
execute DEVSERVE to a read/write disabled volume, a normal value is returned.
