HP P9000 Business Copy for Mainframe Systems User Guide (AV400-96386, October 2011)

Status, permitted pair operations
A pair’s status shows a pair’s condition. It also shows you whether a specific operation can be
performed. The following shows operations that can be performed when a pair is in the various
statuses.
The following table shows supported operations when you have cascaded pairs.

NOTE:
Processing will end normally when you resynchronize a pair in duplex or resync status using the PPRC TSO command
to copy data from the S-VOL to the T-VOL. However, since no resynchronize operation is performed, pair status
does not change.
With Business Continuity Manager, processing ends normally but pair status also does not change for the reason
given above.
If you use the ICKDSF PPRCOPY command, the command abnormally ends and reports CC = 12.
Reviewing pair, volume details
You can review the data related to pairs and their volumes. This includes volume capacity, pair
status, S-VOL and T-VOL identifiers, and several other details.
NOTE: LDEVs for S-VOLs and T-VOLs listed in Remote Web Console may end in the following
special symbols:
A pound or gate symbol (#), which indicates an external volume (for example, 00:00:01#)
The letter "X", which indicates a virtual volume used by Thin Provisioning Z (for example,
00:00:01#).
Procedure 11 To check pair and volume details
1. In the Remote Web Console, click Actions > Local Copy > Business Copy for
Mainframe/Compatible FlashCopy/Compatible FlashCopy SE > Pair Operation.
2. In the tree, select the CU image where the pairs or volumes are located. Related volumes
display in the volume list.
