Volumes may be used as both a Compatible FlashCopy T-VOL and a Cnt Ac-S Z M-VOL as
long as they are of any combination shown in Table 17 (page 29).
The following table shows whether you can share the Compatible FlashCopy T-VOL and the
Cnt Ac-S Z M-VOL.

The following table describes the Cnt Ac-S Z pair status that is required when performing a Reverse
Restore and Fast Reverse Restore if a Compatible FlashCopy T-VOL and the volume of a Cnt Ac-S
Z pair is shared.

The procedures when you use a DFSMS command, a TSO command, or an ICKDSF command are
as follows. You cannot perform Fast Reverse Restore when you specify DFSMSdss.
Procedure when you use a DFSMS command
Follow the procedure below if you use a DFSMS command. However, if the status of the Cnt Ac-S
Z pair is duplex, you need to use a TSO command.
If Compatible FlashCopy S-VOL and Cnt Ac-S Z R-VOL are shared:
1. If you need to terminate the I/O operation to the volumes of Cnt Ac-S Z pairs to maintain the
consistency of data, terminate the I/O operation.
2. Suspend the Cnt Ac-S Z pair. See the following example:
CSUSPEND DEVN(X dev#’) PRIM(X ssid’ serial# X cca X lss) SEC(X ssid’ serial# X cca X lss)
3. Set the Cnt Ac-S Z R-VOL to online.
The host will be able to recognize the dataset on the Cnt Ac-S Z R-VOL and determine the
extent for establishing a Compatible FlashCopy relationship.
