Example 1 The devserv Command
devserv QDASD, 4200, VALIDATE
By executing the command, you will be able to view the information of the direct access
memory device 4200 and the magnetic disk controller. Based on the displayed information,
update the information on the expanded functions maintained in the storage of the host
processor. By these operations, the host recognizes that Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible
FlashCopy SE is supported.
7. Establish Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE relationships.
8. Check that all the Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE relationships you
wanted to create are created.
You can use Remote Web Console or the FCQUERY command to check if all the Compatible
FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE relationships are created.
Uninstalling Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE
This section describes how to uninstall Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE.
To uninstall Compatible FlashCopy:
Procedure 1
1. Withdraw all Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE relationships by using a
host command.
2. Check that all Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE relationships are deleted.
You can use Remote Web Console or FCQUERY command to check if all the Compatible
FlashCopy relationships are deleted.
3. Set all the devices used by Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE offline
4. Select Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE and click Uninstall in the Remote
Web Console window.
5. Click Apply in the Remote Web Console window.
6. Set the all the devices that were set offline in step 3 back again to online.
The host recognizes that the Compatible FlashCopy was uninstalled.
7. Execute the devserv command with the VALIDATE option of QDASD to the devices in the
storage system. For an example of the devserv command, see “Installing Compatible FlashCopy
Compatible FlashCopy SE” (page 36).
8. Perform the mainframe host path offline/online operation from your host.
Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE does not support the REMOVEFCPY parameter
of the ICKDSF CONTROL command.
Requirements of the license capacity
The total volume capacity that is used in Compatible FlashCopy or Compatible FlashCopy SE must
be less than the license capacity you purchased. You need to maintain the total volume capacity
that is used in Compatible FlashCopy within the license capacity that you purchased.
