License capacity of Compatible FlashCopy
• The total capacity of S-VOL and T-VOL of Compatible FlashCopy must be within the license
capacity that you purchased.
• When you use the volumes of Thin Provisioning as S-VOL and T-VOL of Compatible FlashCopy,
the pool capacity of Thin Provisioning is added to the license capacity of Compatible
FlashCopy. The license capacity of Thin Provisioning volumes cannot be renewed in real time.
Therefore by the multiple write requests against the pools, the purchased license capacity may
be exceeded.
• If the total volume capacity that is used in Compatible FlashCopy exceeds the volume capacity
that you purchased, you can still continue to use Compatible FlashCopy for another 30 days.
After that, you can delete Compatible FlashCopy pairs but cannot perform any other Compatible
FlashCopy operations.
License capacity of Compatible FlashCopy SE
• The total capacity of S-VOL and T-VOL of Compatible FlashCopy SE must be within the license
capacity that you purchased.
• S-VOL adds volume capacity the same as Compatible FlashCopy. And also, T-VOL that is
TSE-VOL adds the capacity of using track by the tracks. This license capacity cannot be renewed
in real time. Therefore by the multiple write requests against the pools, the purchased license
capacity may be exceeded.
• If the total volume capacity that is used in Compatible FlashCopy SE exceeds the volume
capacity that you purchased, you can still continue to use Compatible FlashCopy SE for another
30 days. After that, you can delete Compatible FlashCopy SE pairs but cannot perform any
other Compatible FlashCopy SE operations.
Cautions when TSE-VOL is used
When you execute the volume initializing to TSE-VOL, you must execute LDEV formatting after
creating TSE-VOL.If you execute LDEV formatting when the total capacity of TSE-VOL that belongs
to the pool exceeds the pool capacity, LDEV formatting fails. At that time, enlarge pool capacity
or reduce the total capacity of TSE-VOL.
