4 Performing Compatible FlashCopy SE operations
This topic provides troubleshooting information for Compatible FlashCopy SE and instructions for
calling technical support.
Overview for Compatible FlashCopy SE
Compatible FlashCopy SE (herein after called FCSE) can reduce the physical volume of T-VOL by
setting the virtual volume named Track Space Efficient Volume (hereinafter called TSE-VOL) as
T-VOL of Compatible FlashCopy. The operation of FCSE can be performed by using PPRC TSO,
DFMSdss, ICKDSF, ANTRQST Macro, or z/VM CP commands from the host.
To use FCSE, Compatible FlashCopy SE and Thin Provisioning Z are needed to be installed.
The following table shows the list of functions provided by FCSE.

When updating the space where the data is not yet copied, the old data
is copied by the track at first. After the old data copying process is
completed, then the new data is transferred.
By reading the space in the copy target where the data has not been copied,
it transfers the data from the copy source directly.
Note: If a relationship with no copy is deleted, the data of copy target is
not guaranteed.
This function can establish up to 16 copy targets.Multiple relationship
Note that sharing S-VOL with Compatible FlashCopy is not available.
This function creates the consistent snapshot data among multiple VOLs.Consistency Group

This function creates a relationship by switching its S-VOL and T-VOL.Fast Reverse Restore
This function deletes the relationships existing between S-VOL and T-VOL.

Withdraw command deletes the relationships immediately.The mode whether
to release the allocated area or not can be selected when issuing Withdraw
command.
This function displays the information by referring to the state of relationships
from a host command and using Remote Web Console.
