• A Snapshot pair must be created before attempting to recognize the V-VOL on the host server.
• Do not use a volume already recognized by the host server as a V-VOL, otherwise the host
may be terminated.

an unused number is assigned.

Restrictions:
• Pairs with the same P-VOL cannot be in the same consistency group.
• Business Copy, Business Copy Z, and Snapshot pairs cannot coexist in the same consistency
group.

Data pool requirements and restrictions
The following volumes cannot be used as data pools:
• LUSE or Cache Residency volumes, system disks, command devices, quorum disks
• Volumes whose LDEV status is other than Normal or Normal (Quick Format)
• Volumes in blocked status or volumes in copying process
• Snapshot P-VOLs or V-VOLs
• Volumes already used as data pools for Snapshot, Thin Provisioning (including Smart Tiers),
and Thin Provisioning Z.
• Volumes used by another program product pair or migration plan
