key.

Create the V-VOL
Before configuring Snapshot, the following must be completed:
The data pool must be sized and the volumes set up.
The maximum number of pairs allowed on your system must be determined.
The volumes to be used as P-VOL and V-VOL should be set up.
Snapshot must be installed.
NOTE: In the procedures below, observe the following:
When entering the Task Name, you can enter up to 32 alphanumeric characters and symbols

If Go to tasks window for status is checked when you click Apply, the task window appears.
Creating data pools
The data pool stores data replaced in the P-VOL after the pair is split. This allows the V-VOL to
maintain a point-in-time image.
Prerequisite information
It is a good idea to review the procedure before starting, to see the information that is required
concerning pool-VOLs you will assign.
Pool capacity can range from 8 GB to 4 TB. A pool should be sized according to
write-workload and other factors. See “Sizing the data pool” (page 12) for more information.
See “System requirements (page 10) and “Data pool requirements and restrictions (page 11)
for all pool requirements.
CAUTION: You cannot delete a pool-VOL after you add it to a pool, so make sure the settings
are correct on a pool-VOL before you add it.
To create a data pool:
