Table 15 Pair Status Definitions
V-VOL accessP-VOL accessDescriptionStatus
No R/WYesThe volume is not assigned to a pair.SMPL
No R/WYesThe initial copy is in progress. If the P-VOL is already paired with
another V-VOL, status does not change to COPY.
COPY
No R/WYesThe initial copy operation is complete and the volumes are paired.
If pool capacity exceeds the threshold when a pair is in PAIR status,
the status changes to PFUL in RAID Manager.
PAIR (PFUL)
R/W enabledYesThe pairsplit operation has been completed. Updates are written to
the P-VOL but not are not mirrored in the V-VOL. The V-VOL maintains
pointers to P-VOL data at the time of the split.
PSUS (PFUS)
If pool capacity exceeds the threshold when a pair is in PSUS status,
the status changes to PFUS in RAID Manager.
No R/WYes, unless a
failure occurs
The pair is suspended by the system. The reason may be one of the
following:
PSUE
during a pair
restore.
Snapshot data in the pool exceeds capacity.
A failure has occurred while restoring the pair.
No R/WYesThe pairresync operation has begun on the PSUS or PFUS pair. This
deletes Snapshot data from the pool. The pair continues to exist.
COPY(RS)
No R/WYesThe pairresync-restore operation has begun on the PSUS pair. This
writes Snapshot data from the pool back to the P-VOL.
COPY(RS-R)
No R/WYesThe pair deletion operation has begun.SMPL(PD)
You cannot create pairs using a volume in SMPL (PD) status. However,
this status changes to SMPL status after a brief interval. Then the
volumes can be used in the paircreate operation.
Statuses required for pair operations
To perform a pair operation, the pair must have a specific status. The following table shows the
RAID Manager pair operations and the statuses in which they can be performed.

Monitoring pair, volume details
You can review more details for a pair and pair-volumes than are available on the Pair Operation
window. This includes volume capacity, related pool ID, pool usage, and so on.
