Requirements, restrictions, and recommendations
Observe the following when using the consistency group pair-split with shared Cnt Ac-S or Cnt
Ac-J volumes:
• RAID Manager is required.
• BC primary volumes must be shared with the Cnt Ac-J or Cnt Ac-S secondary volumes.
• BC pairs must be registered in the same BC consistency group, to insure consistent backup
operations.
• The same status is required for all Cnt Ac-J or Cnt Ac-S pairs whose S-VOLs are shared with
the BC consistency group pairs.
• Cnt Ac-J/BC pair status must be the following:
Cnt Ac-J: PAIR or PSUS.◦
◦ BC: PAIR or COPY(PD)/COPY.
• Cnt Ac-S/BC pair status must be the following:
PAIR or PSUS.◦
◦ BC: PAIR or COPY(PD)/COPY.
• One split operation can be performed per BC consistency group.
• Cnt Ac-J pairs must belong to the same journal group. If multiple journal groups are registered
in one BC consistency group, consistent backup cannot be insured on BC secondary volumes.
• With Cnt Ac-J,three split operations can be performed per Cnt Ac-J journal (equivalent to three
BC consistency groups).
