This behavior does not occur among copy pair-setting tasks because the copy pair is reserved in one
of the tasks.
Operations for copy groups containing Simplex copy pairs
Task execution might generate an error when you use Pair Configuration Wizard to edit copy pair
settings or use Change Pair Status Wizard to perform copy pair operations on copy groups that
contains both Simplex copy pairs and non-Simplex copy pairs.
Note that the specified copy pair operation is executed, even when the task ends with an error.
Due to this issue, perform Refresh Storage Systems for the storage systems that contain primary
and secondary volumes in the copy group, and then verify the results of the operation.
Using Pair Configuration Wizard
• Symptom
On the Pair Association page of the Pair Configuration Wizard, if a task is executed for deleting
a copy group by using Delete Group, the task might generate the following error message:
An attempt to delete a pair has failed. [KAVN00463-E]
An attempt to update the Device Manager database failed. (storage system
to be updated = <Storage System>) [RPM-04823]
• Conditions
This issue occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
1. The copy group to be deleted contains both Simplex copy pairs and non-Simplex copy pairs.
2. The local Device Manager is being used to manage the storage system that contains the copy
group described in the first condition.
3. You execute a task to delete the copy group described in the first condition.
Using Change Pair Status Wizard
• Symptom
On the Select Pair Operation page of the Change Pair Status Wizard, if the takeover
horctakeover -S, swap pairsplit + pairresync -swaps, or takeover-recovery
(resync) pairresync -swaps operation is selected, and then a task is executed that performs
that operation, the task might generate the following error message:
◦ takeover horctakeover –S
A "takeover [horctakeover -S]" operation has failed. [KAVN02822-E]
An unexpected error occurred. [RPM-00590]
◦ swap pairsplit + pairresync -swaps
A "swap [pairresync -swaps]" operation has failed. [KAVN02825-E]
An unexpected error occurred. [RPM-00590]
◦ takeover-recovery (resync) pairresync -swaps
A "takeover-recovery(resync) [pairresync -swaps]" operation has
failed. [KAVN02830-E]
An unexpected error occurred. [RPM-00590]
