This chapter describes the XP7 program products and related user guides.
HP XP7 Remote Web Console User Guide
Remote Web Console provides a GUI to manage the XP7 storage systems via a web browser. The
GUI enables you to view the settings and configuration information of a storage system from a
management PC that is connected to the storage system via a LAN.
The GUI enables you to:
View the settings and configuration information of a storage system you can:
view the configuration information of a storage system.
configure volumes and input and output paths.
configure and use commercial options and functions.
Collect information required for troubleshooting by checking the failure history of storage
systems and downloading trace files.
Maintain security by viewing the audit logs that record information about user operation
permission settings and login history.
HP XP7 Performance for Open and Mainframe Systems User Guide
Performance Monitor
Performance Monitor enables you to measure the usage rate of resources such as the data drives,
logical volumes, and processors in a storage system.
You can also measure the load on the storage system and the traffic between hosts and the storage
system.
Additionally, you can view the changes in usage rate, load, and traffic as a line graph.
Based on the information displayed in the GUI, you can analyze trends in disk access, identify
peak times of input and output access, and obtain performance-tuning information. If the performance
of the system is in question, you can analyze this information to locate the bottleneck.
Performance Control
Performance Control enables you to set an upper limit on the number of accesses to a storage
system from a server and on the amount of data to be transferred. You can program the upper
limit to be automatically disabled when the traffic between the server and the storage system drops
to a preferred level. By doing so, I/O operations can be performed for a critical server which may
require high throughput prior to I/O operations for other servers.
Cache Residency
Cache Residency enables you to organize the data that is more frequently accessed to a specific
cache area in a storage system. This enables high-speed access from the host to the data in the
cache.
