Mitigating SNMP Errors
Use setup.exe when you install a secondary SVP. If you do not, traps could be reported to an IP address
that is not
specied in SNMP settings. This could have serious consequences, including the following:
SNM P Security Func tion
If the SNMP security function is working, and a c ommand is executed from an IP address that is
not
entered, you will get a no reply return and a certication error is received for a trap.
SNMP Co ld Trap Function
Depending on your net work environment, when the SVP is rebooted you might not receive
Microsoftagent SNMP agentcoldtraps.
The Microsoft SNMP agent might report Link up/Link down Trap when the SVP reboots.
Abnormal Response to SNMP Command
If an error occurs in the SVP, traps might not b e sent.
Problems Inputting M IB Denition Files
If
you can not input two or more MIB denition les because of the specications of the SNMP
manager
software, use the MIB denition les for storage system. Error reports include subsystem
nicknames, which can be used to identify each subsystem series (for example, HP XP24000 Disk
Array a nd HP XP12000 Disk Array).
