Launch via HP Client Security
HPDE can be alternatively activated from HP Client Security under “DATA” category shown in Figure 8.

HP Client Security provides the following options:
Select partition to encrypt from a list of partitions. The following partitions are not listed:
o Partition with no drive letter assigned
o HP_TOOLS
o HP_RECOVERY
Select from the following optional features:
o Disable sleep to enhance security on the system for both software and hardware encryption
o Enable TPM for enhanced security (available only on TPM-enabled machines)
o Stores the encryption key in the TPM for enhanced secure storage.
o Enable software encryption (instead of hardware encryption) on a SED
Must create encryption recovery key using one or more of the available options:
o Removable media
o SkyDrive
o TPM (available only on TPM-enabled machines; TPM must be owned and initialized)
Notifications
HPDE displays various actionable notifications in two ways as shown in Table 4. Color indicates the severity
of the notification and the associated message guides the user to what needs to be done. Notifications can
be dismissed by clicking on the ‘X’ on the right of the notification.
