HP SureStore AutoBackup Administrator's Guide - Not Orderable

partial backup A partial backup can include any drives, folders, or files, but they
do not include the Windows registry or disk partition information.
Unlike full backups, disaster recovery is not possible from a
partial backup.
power cable The cable used to connect the HP SureStore AutoBackup
appliance to the mains power supply.
protected
computer
A computer whose files and other information is being managed
by HP SureStore AutoBackup. This requires Client Backup Agent
to be installed on the computer and a baseline backup to be
performed.
A protected computer can not be managed by more than one
appliance.
R
recovery Recovery (as opposed to disaster recovery) is the reinstatement of
one or more files from an appliance to a protected computer
through the normal client interface.
redundant file
elimination
The process that identifies files that do not need to be included in
the backup - for example, files such as shared applications that
have already been backed up from another networked client.
remote client A client that is not directly connected to the network - for
example, a laptop user with a dial-up connection.
reset
see software reset
retention rules Retention refers to how long a file is stored on its AutoBackup
appliance. A retention rule specifies how long a file should be
stored on the appliance, and also when to remove a file from the
server that was deleted on the protected computer. There is a
default rule that applies for each file, unless a specific exception
rule has been defined on that file.
rollback The process of reinstating a protected computer to the state
corresponding to a full backup. Using Client Backup Agent, a user
can rollback their computer to the latest full backup state.
