HP SureStore AutoBackup Administrator's Guide - Not Orderable

The backups are much faster than the
download time of the client side agent
software?
Different speeds in a network can be caused by the route the information travels. If
the packets are sent directly, then the speed should be high. If the packets are sent via
a machine which is busy, then they may be delayed. If you browser is getting all its
packet through the local web proxy server, then the speed of accessing the appliance
to view web pages, and download software could be slower than the backup speed.
The reason the backup and restore operations are fast is because the software has set
up a direct link to the appliance and the web proxy server doesn't get in the way.
In Netscape this is done through the Edit->Preferences... menu choice. Select
Advanced and then Proxies
In IE4 this is done through the View->Internet Options... menu choice. Select the
Connection tab and check the Bypass proxy server for local (Intranet) addresses
checkbox.

Unable to connect to appliance for
network restore from disaster recovery
CD-ROMs.
If a set of disaster recovery CD-ROMs have been created with the option of restoring
over a network, and connection to the appliance is not possible, then a new set needs
to be created. This time specify that the recovery process is to occur purely from
disk. This is done by selecting "Include all user data on CD-ROM set" option when
creating the CD. This allow complete data recovery to the client from the Disaster
Recovery CD-ROM set.
