1. Make sure that the HP Jetdirect accessory or print server is disconnected from the printer.
2. Go to www.hp.com/go/FutureSmart and select Upgrade now.
3. Find the printer in the list, and then select the associated link in the "Link to Firmware download page"
column.
4. Expand the Firmware section, locate the latest FutureSmart Bundle version, and then click Download.

Step two: Connect the HP Jetdirect to the printer
Learn how to connect the HP Jetdirect 2700w print server as an external accessory to the printer.
WARNING! HP Jetdirect print servers contain electronic components that can be damaged by static electricity
through electrostatic discharge (ESD).
To prevent ESD damage, maintain frequent contact with any bare sheet metal surface on the printer. A
grounding wrist strap (or similar device) is useful for this purpose. Avoid touching electronic components or
circuit paths.
NOTE: Do not install more than one HP Jetdirect 2700w on a single printer.
If more than one HP Jetdirect 2700w is installed on the same printer (using both external USB ports, for
example), an error message " Unsupported conguration detected error" displays on the printer. To resolve the
error, follow these steps:
1. Press the power button to turn o the printer.
2. Remove the extra HP Jetdirect 2700w print server.
3. Press the power button to turn on the printer.
Follow these steps to connect the HP Jetdirect 2700w print server to the printer:
1. Make sure that your printer is installed with the latest rmware version.
2. Plug the HP Jetdirect into the USB connector on the back of the printer to enable a wireless connection and
wait while the printer detects the print server.
3. Tighten the thumb screws and ensure that the print server is held securely in place.
4. When prompted, restart or reboot the printer.
After a reboot, the printer enters into a "Wireless Conguration" mode.
5. Locate the Jetdirect IP address by printing a Conguration page from the printer control panel.
NOTE: The steps vary according to the type of control panel.
