STORAGE AND DRIVES
Primary Storage Bay
Hard Drives*
1 TB 7200rpm SMART SATA III
500 GB 7200 rpm SMART SATA III
500 GB 7200 rpm SMART SATA III Self Encrypting Drive
500 GB 5400 rpm SMART SATA III I Self Encrypting Drive FIPS 140-2 compliant
Solid State Drive
128/180/240/256/512 GB SATA 6 Gb/sec
180/256 GB SATA 6 Gb/sec Self Encrypting Drive
512 GB SSD Opal 2
HP 3D DriveGuard (Windows only)
The hard drive is mounted directly to the notebook frame, reducing the transmission of shock to the hard drive. Uses three-
axis digital motion detection with intelligent sensitivity to help protect the hard drive during normal use from shock and
vibration. The digital accelerometer temporarily halts all data transfer and parks the hard drive when abrupt motion is
detected.
Turbo Drive Storage Slot (M.2)
HP Z Turbo Drive 128 GB, PCIe Solid State Drive
HP Z Turbo Drive 256 GB PCIe Solid State Drive
NOTE: If 256 GB Z Turbo Drive (PCIe SSD) is selected, it will be set as the primary storage drive, and any of the HDD and SSD
can be configured as secondary storage.
NOTE: For hard drives, GB = 1 billion bytes. TB = 1 trillion bytes. Actual formatted capacity is less. Up to 16 GB (for Windows 7)
of system and up to 30 GB (for Windows 8) disk is reserved for system recovery software.
MEMORY
Standard
DDR3L 1.35V SDRAM (1600 MHz)
Two SODIMM slots supporting dual-channel memory
4 GB and 8 GB SODIMMs
Maximum
Upgradeable to 16384 MB with optional 8192 MB SODIMMs in both slots
Dual-channel
Maximized dual-channel performance requires SODIMMs of the same size and speed in both memory slots.
* Maximum memory capacities assume Windows 64-bit operating systems or Linux. With Windows 32-bit operating systems,
memory above 3 GB may not all be available due to system resource requirements.
NOTE: Due to the non-industry standard nature of some third-party memory modules, we recommend HP branded memory
to ensure compatibility. If you mix memory speeds, the system will perform at the lower memory speed.
