Load the Priority input tray Introduction The following information describes how to load paper in the Priority input tray. This tray holds up to 10 sheets of 75 g/m2 (20 lb) paper. NOTE: To avoid paper jams: 18 ● Never add or remove paper from the Priority input tray during printing. ● Before loading the tray, remove all of the paper from the input tray and straighten the stack. ● When loading the tray, do not fan the paper. ● Use paper that is not wrinkled, folded, or damaged. 1.

Troubleshoot Cartridge Protection control panel error messages Error message Description Recommended action 10.57.0X Protected Cartridge The cartridge can only be used in the printer or fleet of printers that initially protected it using HP Cartridge Protection. Replace the cartridge with a new toner cartridge. The Cartridge Protection feature allows an administrator to restrict cartridges to work in only one printer or fleet of printers. The cartridge must be replaced to continue printing.

Replace the imaging drum ● Introduction ● Imaging drum information ● Remove and replace the imaging drum Introduction The following information provides details about the imaging drum for the printer, and it includes instructions to replace it. Imaging drum information This printer indicates when the imaging drum needs to be replaced. The actual imaging drum life remaining can vary. Consider having a replacement imaging drum available to install when print quality is no longer acceptable.

6. If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi Direct password, or select OK on the printer control panel. NOTE: For Android devices that support Wi-Fi Direct, if the connection method is set to Automatic, the connection will occur automatically, without a password prompt. If the connection method is set to Manual, you will need to either press the OK button, or provide a personal identification number (PIN) — displayed on the printer control panel — as a password on the mobile device. 7.

AirPrint Direct printing using Apple’s AirPrint is supported for iOS and from Mac computers running macOS 10.13 and newer.
Android embedded printing HP's built-in print solution for Android and Kindle enables mobile devices to automatically find and print to HP printers that are either on a network or within wireless range for Wi-Fi Direct printing. The printer must be connected to the same network (sub-net) as the Android device. The print solution is built into the many versions of the operating system.
Use walk-up USB printing (touchscreen models only) Introduction This printer features walk-up USB printing, for quickly printing files without sending them from a computer. The printer accepts standard USB flash drives in the USB port. It supports the following types of files: ● .pdf ● .jpg ● .prn and .PRN ● .cht and .CHT ● .pxl ● .pcl and .PCL ● .ps and .PS Step one: Access USB files on the printer 1. Insert the USB flash drive into the walk-up USB port on the printer. 2.
Option two: Print photos ENWW 1. To print photos, select View and Print Photos. 2. Select the preview image of each photo to be printed, and then select Done. 3. When the summary screen opens, the following settings can be adjusted: ● Image Size ● Paper Size ● Paper Type ● Number of Copies ● Output Color (color printers only) ● Lighter/Darker 4. Select Print to print the photos. 5. Retrieve the printed job from the output bin, and remove the USB flash drive.

Update the firmware HP offers periodic printer updates, new Web Services apps, and new features to existing Web Services apps. Follow these steps to update the printer firmware for a single printer. When you update the firmware, Web Service apps will update automatically. There are two supported methods to perform a firmware update on this printer. Use only one of the following methods to update the printer firmware.
Open the Service menu, open the LaserJet Update menu, and then select the Manage Updates menu. Set the Allow Updates option to YES, and then set the Automatic Check option to ON. Control panel help system (touchscreen models only) The printer has a built-in Help system that explains how to use each screen. To open the Help system, touch the Help button in the lower-left corner of the screen. For some screens, the Help opens to a global menu where you can search for specific topics. You can browse through the menu structure by touching the buttons in the menu. Some Help screens include animations that guide you through procedures, such as clearing jams.
Restore the factory-set defaults Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the printer and network settings to the factory defaults. It will not reset the page count, or tray size. To restore the printer to the factory-default settings, follow these steps. CAUTION: Restoring the factory-set defaults returns all of the settings to the factory defaults, and it also deletes any pages that are stored in the memory. NOTE: The steps vary according to the type of control panel.
A “Cartridge is low” or “Cartridge is very low” message displays on the printer control panel Cartridge is low: The printer indicates when a cartridge level is low. Actual cartridge life remaining may vary. Consider having a replacement available to install when print quality is no longer acceptable. The cartridge does not need to be replaced now. Cartridge is very low: The printer indicates when the cartridge level is very low. Actual cartridge life remaining may vary.
● Select the Continue option to set the printer to alert you that the cartridge is very low, but to continue printing. ● Select the Stop option to set the printer to stop printing until you replace the cartridge. ● Select the Prompt option to set the printer to stop printing and prompt you to replace the cartridge. You can acknowledge the prompt and continue printing. A customer configurable option on this printer is "Prompt to Remind Me in 100 pages, 200 pages, 300 pages, 400 pages, or never.
Printer does not pick up paper or misfeeds Introduction The following solutions can help solve problems if the printer is not picking up paper from the tray or is picking up multiple sheets of paper at one time. Either of these situations can result in paper jams.
6. Check the printer control panel to see if it is displaying a prompt to feed the paper manually. Load paper, and continue. 7. The rollers above the tray might be contaminated. Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with warm water. Use distilled water, if it is available. CAUTION: Do not spray water directly on to the printer. Instead, spray water on the cloth or dab the cloth in water and wring it out before cleaning the rollers.
NOTE: Do not adjust the paper guides tightly against the paper stack. Adjust them to the indentations or markings in the tray. 7. Make sure the printing environment is within recommended specifications. Clear jams in the document feeder The following information describes how to clear paper jams in the document feeder. When a jam occurs, 2-line control panel displays an error message and the touchscreen control panel displays an animation that assists in clearing the jam. 1. Remove any paper from the document feeder input tray. 2. Remove any jammed paper visible in the input tray area. Use both hands to slowly pull out the jammed paper to avoid tearing the paper. 3. Open the document-feeder cover.
4. Remove any jammed paper. 5. Close the document-feeder cover. Make sure it is completely closed.
6. Open the scanner lid. If paper is jammed behind the white plastic backing, gently pull it out. HEW 7. LETT -PAC KA RD Lower the scanner lid. HEW LE TT-P ACKA RD NOTE: To avoid jams, make sure the guides in the document-feeder input tray are adjusted tightly against the document. Remove all staples and paper clips from original documents. NOTE: Original documents that are printed on heavy, glossy paper can jam more frequently than originals that are printed on plain paper.
Clear jams in the Main input tray Use the following procedure to check for paper in all possible jam locations in the Main input tray. When a jam occurs, 2-line control panel displays an error message and the touchscreen control panel displays an animation that assists in clearing the jam. 1. Slowly pull the jammed paper out of the printer. 2. Lift the scanner assembly. OK 3. Open the cartridge door.
4. Remove the toner cartridge from the printer. OK 5. Remove the imaging drum from the printer. OK 6. Remove any jammed paper from the tonercartridge area. Use both hands to remove jammed paper to avoid tearing the paper.

Use two slots to pry the film assembly away from the scanner body. 3. Slide the assembly in the direction indicated to remove it.

If the fax quality is better, the problem is related to the initial recipient's fax machine settings or supplies status. Check the sender's fax machine Ask the sender to try sending from a different fax machine. If the fax quality is better, the problem is with the sender's fax machine.
Solve wired network problems Introduction Check the following items to verify that the printer is communicating with the network. Before beginning, print a configuration page from the printer control panel and locate the printer IP address that is listed on this page.
