Follow these troubleshooting steps in the order presented.
1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
2. If the error persists, contact your HP-authorized service or support provider, or contact customer
support at www.hp.com/go/contactHP.
Recommended action for call-center agents and onsite technicians
1. Turn the printer off, and then on.
2. Use the Disable Cartridge Check test to see if the toner cartridge, or the slot is causing the issue.
Change the failing cartridge with another color (for example, if magenta is failing, change positions
for magenta and cyan cartridges).
3. Does the error follow the toner cartridge? Is the cyan motor now reporting the error?
If YES, then replace the toner cartridge.
If NO, then replace the specific drum motor.

NOTE: Each cartridge slot has a drum motor. You can also use the disable cartridge check and run
the drum motor component test with the toner cartridge removed. If the test passes, replace the toner
cartridge. If the test fails, replace the drum motor. If the printer has been serviced, check the connector
at the drum motor assembly and the DC controller.
