MSA 1000, SA-Cluster Storage IMPORTANT: You may need to power your system down before installing the new cache module, depending on the system configuration. n n If your system has only one controller, power the system down before starting the replacement sequence. If your system has two controllers, the action that you must take depends on the size of the existing cache module: — When replacing a cache module with another of the same capacity, you do not need to power down the system.

3. Remove the cache module (see Figure 3). If two cache modules are present, and they do not have a capacity of 256 MB, remove them both. The two cache modules must have identical capacities. (a) Swivel the DIMM ejector levers outward 1. (b) Loosen the old cache module by pushing one of the battery packs in the direction away from the DIMM connector socket. . Insert the 256-MB cache upgrade module into the DIMM connector socket. 7. Verify that the DIMM ejector latches are fully closed. 8. Reinstall the plastic retainer. 9. Reinstall the heat sink.
