5 Preparing to Conﬁgure X.25 iX

System Access

This chapter details the information you will need before you can begin

to conﬁgure X.25 iX System Access for host-based systems that will

include an X.25 system-to-system link. Sample worksheets are included

to ease conﬁguration.

Hewlett-Packard recommends that you conﬁgure the

datacommunications and terminal subsystem (DTS) before conﬁguring

the NS X.25 link. If you have not already done so, turn to chapters 2

and 3 in this manual for information on how to conﬁgure your system's

DTCs.

If you also need to conﬁgure a point-to-point link or a LAN link, see the

This chapter describes how to:

• Plan the network conﬁguration for X.25 iX System Access.

• Determine network characteristics for X.25 iX System Access.

• Identify Neighbor Gateways.

NOTE

If you are conﬁguring X.25 iX System Access on a system using

PC-based network management (an OpenView workstation is part of

the network), you should use the HP 3000/iX Network Planning and

Conﬁguration Guide instead of this manual to conﬁgure the X.25 link.
