B.1 Overview
This chapter will deal with most of the problems that may be encountered while
installing/configuring and using SILO 9710 MEDIA MANAGER. Most of the
problems will be TCP/IP, Tandem security or Tandem device setup related. By
far, the most prevalent problems are TCP/IP related and Hardware (i.e. TPTSTR).
B.2 Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting Chart Table 1
If… Then… The following action should be
taken.
When the connect button is
chosen in SMM, the Device
name field does not highlight
and an error about TCPIP
address or port # is received
being unable to connect
There is a problem
communicating with the
Tandem host
Verify the Tandem host IP# in the
Address field
Make sure the TCP/IP subsystem is
running on the Tandem host
Run Config program on the Tandem
and check to see if the port # that
was entered for the Tandem port #
field is the same as entered in the
GUI
Cannot Connect There is a problem
communicating with the server
program
Shut down the GUI. Then type
OBEY STOPALL at the TACL
prompt. Wait 15-20 seconds.
Restart the server program first and
then the GUI. Reconnect
