PIF
Physical interface (PIF) objects are the ports on these resources through which LAN connections are made:
Ethernet ServerNet addressable controllers (E4SA SACs)
Fast Ethernet ServerNet addressable controller (FESA SACs)
Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet addressable controllers (GESA SACs)
Common Controller ServerNet addressable controllers (CCSA SACs)
Token Ring ServerNet addressable controllers (TRSA SACs)
Location in OSM Tree: System > Group > Module > CRU > SAC > PIF
Example: TRSA PIF $ZZLAN.TRSA0.0.B
Attributes
PIF
Displayed in the Attributes tab and Attributes dialog box only if the value is something
other than OK. Values
Service State
Logical
Valid only for FESA and GESA PIFs.
The transmission rate for the ServerNet addressable controller.
Current Configured Speed
The state of the component as known to the operating system on the server. ValuesDevice State
The transmission mode for the ServerNet addressable controller.
Values: Half Duplex, Full Duplex, Unknown
Duplex Mode
The media access control (MAC) address of the PIF hardware.Hardware MAC Address
Displayed for CCSA PIFs only.Interface Type
The maximum transmission rate for the ServerNet addressable controller.
Values: 10 megabits per second, 100 megabits per second, Unknown
Maximum Speed
The media access control (MAC) address of the PIF network.Network MAC Address
The processor numbers for processors that have a successful data path to the PIF.
If no processor has a path, "None" is shown.
Example: (0,1)
Processors with Data Path
Valid only for the TRSA CRU.
The current state of the Token Ring.
Values: Opened, Opening, Open Failure, Closed, Closing, Ring Failure
Ring State
Valid only for the TRSA CRU.
Status (success or reason for failure) of the most recent attempt to enter the Token
Ring.
Values: Last Open Successful, No Open Attempted, Bad Parameter, Lobe Failed,
Signal Loss, Insertion Timeout, Ring Failure, Beaconing, Duplicate MAC, Request
Failed, Remove Received
Ring Open Status
Valid only for E4SA PIFs.
A value of Up confirms that the cable from the PIF to the LAN is connected and
operational.
A value of Down indicates a problem with LAN connectivity.
Link Pulse State
Actions
Abort
Terminates operation of the PIF. When the Abort action finishes, the PIF is in the Stopped state.
Configure LIF
Configures the associated LIF.
