to the group identification switches and service LEDs. There are two PMCUs in each group,
one for each of the two DC power distribution buses.
power supply In system enclosures without power shelves, the component that converts standard AC line
voltage into the DC voltages needed by the group components in the enclosure.
In system enclosures with power shelves, the component located in the power shelf that converts
standard AC line voltage into DC voltage and delivers it to the CRUs in that enclosure, which
in turn supply the DC voltages needed by the group components in the enclosure.
primary processor The processor that is designated as owning the ServerNet addressable controller (SAC)
connected to separate processors running the NonStop operating system. The primary processor
is the processor that has direct control over the SAC.
See also backup processor.
primitive state The state of a PE that is not a member of the voting set of PEs. In this state the PE cannot
perform any I/O, voting or rendezvous. It may communication with other PEs using primitive
communication mechanisms.
problem incident
report
A type of incident report that notifies you of a problem on your server or ServerNet cluster. A
problem incident report is generated when changes occur that could directly affect the availability
of resources. Problem incident reports include the system configuration file and might include
other attachments, such as alarm logs and processor diagnostic information.
See also periodic incident report.
processor A functional unit of a computer that reads program instructions, moves data between processor
memory and the input/output controllers, and performs arithmetic operations. Processors are
sometimes referred to as central processing units (CPUs), but a NonStop server has multiple
cooperating processors rather than a single CPU.
processor
multifunction
(PMF) 2 CRU
A NonStop S-series customer-replaceable unit ( CRU) that contains a power supply, service
service processor (SP), ServerNet router 2, Ethernet controller, three ServerNet addressable
controllers ( SACs), and a processor and memory system in a single unit. The PMF 2 CRU
consists of three subassemblies: the processor and memory board ( PMB), the multifunction
I/O board ( MFIOB), and the power supply subassembly.
processor and
memory board
(PMB) CRU
Part of the processor multifunction (PMF) CRU. A logic board that has the following computer
chips: lockstepped microprocessors, the main memory system, and the ServerNet memory
interface.
processor board A board that contains the set of processor elements in a Blade Element.

multifunction
(PMF) CRU
A NonStop S-series customer-replaceable unit (CRU) that contains a power supply, service
processor (SP), ServerNet router 1, Ethernet controller, three ServerNet addressable controllers
( SACs), and a processor and memory system in a single unit. The PMF CRU consists of three
subassemblies: the processor and memory board ( PMB), the multifunction I/O board ( MFIOB),
and the power supply subassembly.

reanalyze An action that runs the OSM incident analysis, which checks EMS event messages and creates
alarms in OSM if certain conditions exist.
See also refresh.
refresh An action that updates the attribute values displayed in the OSM Service Connection interface.
See also reanalyze.
remote access A form of remote support. Remote access, or dial-in, allows a remote service provider to dial
in to your server to diagnose hardware and software problems.
