5.3. Trend Graphs
Trending is only shown when an entity is selected. Trending includes a Trend Settings
panel and the actual graph canvas. The trend graph is a paged graph where the user
can set the number of intervals to be shown on the page. Pages can be navigated for
convenience. The graph is refreshed according to the refresh policy described below.
User may choose different settings and click ‘Apply’ to display a different graph under
new settings. In general, there are two types of graphs:
All finite/limited objects are graphed (e.g. CPU, Transaction).
Top N of a large number of objects are graphed (e.g. Disk, Process).
Trend Settings panel is slightly different for these two types of graphs. Trend graphs for
entities with a finite/limited number of persistent objects/instances are called Type-I
graphs, such as CPU and Transaction, and graphs which display only a small subset of a
large number of objects/instances are called Type-II graphs.
