3.1. Architecture
The following provides an overview of the Performance Essentials product architecture:

Figure 1 shows the high-level architecture of the product. The directions of arrows indicate
flow of information.
Linux and NonStop servers can be managed by the Performance Essentials SIM plug-in. A
managed server has an agent to collect performance metrics. The agent keeps the latest
performance snapshot of the server and reports this information back to the CMS
component, when requested, through HTTPS interface.
The HP NonStop Cluster Performance Essentials utilizes the cluster configurations managed
by the Cluster Configuration Management application delivered with the HP NonStop Cluster
Essentials product. The Cluster Configuration Management application lets the user create
new clusters and define their members. It can also be used to edit or delete any existing
cluster. The cluster configurations are stored in the SQL database on the CMS.
