NonStop dba/m Database Manager for NonStop SQL/MP User’s Guide 522632-004 iii
Conventions and Definitions Used in This Manual
Most dba/m Database Manager tasks are executed by completing the
fields in a full-screen window. Window names are capitalized, for
example, the Create Table window.
A pane is the portion of a widow that contains related fields. The
fields in a pane are often grouped inside a box and a name. Pane
names are capitalized, for example, the Security pane.
Fields in a window or pane are identified by names or by icons. Field
names are capitalized, for example, the Column Name field. dba/m
Database Manager uses the following field types:
Field, into which you type a value.
Check-box, a yes/no field. A yes value is indicated by a
checkmark. A no value is indicated by a blank box.
Option buttons, a set of related yes/no fields. One field can
be set to yes; all of the other related fields are automatically
set to no.
Drop-down list, which contains a list of options.
Tabular, a collection of related fields arranged in a table of
rows and columns. The name of a column is used to refer to
the name of the field. A row consists of a row header and
column values. You select a row in a tabular field by clicking
on one of the column values; the row is highlighted. The
selected row can be used in three scenarios:
If... Then...
If the next operation will be
performed only on the selected row
The row header is blank.
The next operation will be performed
on a set of rows
A checkmark is displayed in the row
headers of the selected rows.
The next operation is a delete-rows
operation
An x is displayed in the row headers
of the selected rows.
Click on buttons to perform operations on data in a window. Names
of buttons are capitalized, for example, the Execute button.
