Basic principles of CD-R and -RW media
A blank CD-R or -RW disc is divided into areas (see figure below).
This differs from a prerecorded disc by the additional CD-R/RW
area, which lies in front of the lead-in area.
A CROSS-SECTION THROUGH A CD-R DISC
The disc comprises different layers.
Transparent plastics material (the same as conventional CD’s)
is used as the substrate.
