Installing Advanced Performance Monitoring

Overview
To enable Advanced Performance Monitoring, you must install a license on each switch that will
use this feature. For information on obtaining license keys for an FC Entry Switch 8B or FC Switch
8B, visit the HP Web site at
http://www.hp.com/support/fc8B. For information on obtaining license
keys for an FC 16B, visit the HP Web site at
http://www.hp.com/support/fc16B.
Note: A license may have already been installed on the switch at the factory.
You can install an Advanced Performance Monitoring license through telnet commands or through
Web Tools, if a Web Tools license is installed.
Version 3.0 of Advanced Performance Monitoring requires an FC Entry Switch 8B, FC Switch 8B,
or FC 16B switch with Fabric OS version 3.0.1b or later installed.
Installing Through Telnet
1. Log on to the switch by telnet (see the Fabric OS Procedures Guide Version 3.0 for details),
using an account that has administrative privileges.
2. Type licenseShow on the telnet command line to determine whether an Advanced
Performance Monitoring license is already installed on the switch.
A list of all the licenses currently installed on the switch displays. For example:
admin> licenseShow
1A1AaAaaaAAA1a:
Zoning license
QuickLoop license
If the Advanced Performance Monitoring license is not included in the list, continue with
step 3.
3. Enter the following on the command line:
licenseAdd key
