44 Configuring FSE
Graphical user interface layout

The object tree contains hierarchically organized objects. You can browse the hierarchy by clicking the
expand/collapse buttons besides objects. Expanding a subtree does not select the object at the subtree
origin. To select an object, click it.
NOTE: If there are problems with particular object, the belonging icon displayed in the object tree
changes into a question mark (“?”), similarly as in the Windows-native Device Manager.
The right pane shows the property page with details and status information for the selected object. For a
container object (object containing other objects), the right pane displays a list of its childobjects. You can
choose the preferred sort order by clicking on the column titles. The properties page displays properties of
the currently selected object in the object tree. If the property page shows an object list, double-clicking an
object in the list opens the Properties pop-up window with properties of this object. For details on
properties of particular objects, see section ”Configuration procedure” on page 59, chapters ”Migration,
release, recall, and deletion” and ”Monitoring and maintaining FSE”, or appendix ”FSE configuration
templates”.
The menu bar contains menus that provide access to the FSE Management Console actions. Some of the
actions also have corresponding shortcuts on the toolbar.
The toolbar is located under the menu bar and contains icons that can be used as shortcuts to the most
often used actions.
The status bar is located at the bottom of the FSE Management Console client window and shows the
information related to the currently selected item in the object tree.
There are two different modes in which the object properties displayed in the GUI are updated:
Online update mode: In this update mode, when the displayed properties are changed outside the FSE
Management Console, the FSE Management Console server notifies the FSE Management Console
client about the changes and the client refreshes the display. The refresh interval depends on the FSE
Management Console server’s polling interval, defined by the GUI_POLLINTERVAL configuration
parameter.
