Manage the Data Paths
NAS Data Path Manager needs very little attention to function properly. However,
to customize your paths to better meet your network and data transfer
requirements, you will want or need to take action. These actions include:
Add Hardware
Remove Hardware
Optimize Path Performance
Troubleshoot Failed Paths
Restore to Default Settings
Recover from a Disaster
WARNING: These actions will temporarily disrupt all client connections to the
volume group and its LUNs. NFS (UNIX) client operations will be temporarily
delayed. CIFS (Windows) clients will be disconnected and will need to be
reconnected.
To take any of the above actions, you must know how to perform the basic Data
Path Manager tasks.
Learn to Perform Basic Data Path Manager Tasks
When customizing paths, you will need to perform some basic tasks in NAS Data
Path Manager.
Accept the Default Settings
Assign a LUN to a storage array
Take a path off-line or put it back on-line
Change path behavior (from alternate to preferred or vice-versa)
Accept the Default Settings
When you scan for new storage, NAS Data Path Manager detects the new
hardware and discovers the associated paths. The default configuration is
assigned—optimal paths are designated as preferred paths; non-optimal paths are
designated as alternate paths. Initially, it is best to accept the default settings by
not making any changes.
