1 Overview of XP Remote Web Console Operations XP12000/XP10000/SVS200 Array Web Server and Web Client The XP Remote Web Console consists of a group of Java applet programs that help you manage your arrays. The XP Remote Web Console Java applet programs run in a web browser to provide a user-friendly interface for the array's web client functions. The service processor (SVP) is the computer inside the array that uses Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to function as a web server.
NOTE: The use of the XP Remote Web Console software and all other HP products is governed by the terms of your license agreement(s) with Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.C.
switches among processors on channel adapter boards, processors on disk adapter boards, and cache memory. The arrays also provide up to 128 Fibre Channel interface paths or 32 serial-interface paths, and enables simultaneous data transfer through each path. • Connectivity for SAN infrastructure. The arrays can be configured for all-mainframe, all-open, or multiplatform operations. The arrays support Fibre Channel ports and provides a variety of feature options to meet SAN requirements.
NOTE: A storage partition administrator can use only a portion of the licensed product options. For details on the product options that a storage partition administrator can use, see Allocating Licensed Capacity among Storage Logical Partitions. Operation Authority If you set the user ID and password when you register a user account, you can specify various types of operation authorities for registered user accounts. In XP Remote Web Console, the operation authority is also referred to as “role.
• Enable: You have authority to perform operations for product options and the Set Env. panel. Only user accounts for which the storage administrator role authority is set to Enable can be used to set the details on the operation authority for each product option. The operation authority Enable has been set for the user account of user ID “user.” Also for the user account with the user ID of “user”, the Modify authority is set for the operations of all product options.
• Java applet program. The XP Remote Web Console is provided as a Java applet program. When an XP Remote Web Console user accesses and logs on to the desired SVP, the Java applet is downloaded from the SVP (web server) to the XP Remote Web Console client. The Java applet program runs in a web browser on the XP Remote Web Console client. • RMI (remote method invocation). RMI is a remote procedure call that allows Java objects stored in the network to be run remotely.
NOTE: For open system volumes, the arrays support a maximum of only 16,384 LDEVs. This means that CU group 0 is the only available CU group for open system volumes. NOTE: The CU number FF is reserved for RAID Manager operations. Therefore, the CU number that can be used for XP Remote Web Console operations is up to FE. This means that 16,128 LDEVs belong to CU group 3.

6 Configuration File Loader Overview of Configuration File Loader Configuration File Loader is used to make large-scale or “batch” changes to the LUN Manager configuration of the array, using either a text editor or spreadsheet software to edit configuration definition files (spreadsheet files) and apply the changes. You can apply the same configuration definition file to different arrays, and you can define the configuration when you are offline.
General Spreadsheet Conventions Spreadsheet File Requirements You will need to write the spreadsheet according to specific rules and in a specific format. Figure 106 shows a sample spreadsheet. Figure 106 Sample Spreadsheet . All of the formatting requirements in the following table must be satisfied. Table 16 Spreadsheet File Formatting Requirements Item Requirements File type Text file Extension must be .spd. File name Maximum number of letters for the file name is 32 including the extension.
Item Requirements Host group ID, host mode, LUN, CU, and LDEV parameters should be written in one or two-digit hexadecimal numbers. Format (for more information on the required format, “LUN Manager Spreadsheet Settings” on page 150) LUN parameters can be written in up to four-digit hexadecimal numbers. Tab codes and a series of spaces before or after a comma are ignored.
Component Description Process mode Indicates the required process mode. The only mode that is currently available is Change, which indicates adding, changing, or deleting. When the downloaded spreadsheet file is opened, the process mode is not yet stated. Function Tags Before you write the settings, you need to state the function of the parameter. This is called a function tag, and is formatted as a string that is in brackets ([ ]). The type and order of the function tag are determined by the product.
Configuration Definitions There are three types of configuration definitions: • Adding new settings. You can add new settings if the current settings area of the spreadsheet is blank (see Figure 108). • Deleting current settings. You can delete existing current settings by making the new settings area blank. • Changing current settings. You can change existing current settings by writing a different setting in the new settings area. The format of the existing setting and the new settings must be the same.
