7. Make sure the blanking plate is secure on the rear panel and replace the cover on the server.

.
IMPORTANT:
On some servers, even those with latch-mounted arrangements, it is necessary to use the
supplied screw to secure the blanking plate.
8. You can now connect the SAS and power cables to the external tape drive as described in
Installing an external DAT SAS tape drive on page 37.
9. If you have lost the use of a disk bay, we strongly recommend that you attach a sticker to the
blanking plate of the disk bay to show that it is disconnected. (A sticker is provided with DAT
160 tape drives.)
NOTE:
If you subsequently install a hard disk in this bay, it will not work. This does not mean there
is a fault with either the disk or the server.
10. Now go to Reboot the server on page 79.
Reboot the server
Switch on the tape drive (the power on/off switch is on the front panel on DAT 320 tape drives, and
on the back panel on DAT 160 tape drives) and power up the server.
Watch the boot screen carefully after installation. If there are any error or unexpected messages go
back and check the SAS cabling carefully.
Have you installed/replaced the SAS cable correctly?
Have you reconnected all devices securely?
If this does not resolve the problem, refer to Troubleshooting on page 65 for further guidelines.
