Installing and Configuring HSG Agent

Configuration Guide
4–5
Before Installing the Agent
The Agent requires the minimum system requirements, as defined in the release notes
for your operating system. The program is designed to operate with the Client version
2.5 on Windows 2000 or Windows NT.
1. Login as root (superuser). Agent installations on Tru64 UNIX must be done
locally. Do not attempt to install the Agent over the network.
2. Remove previous versions of the Agent from your computer.
3. Read the release notes.
IMPORTANT: Refer to Appendix C for further detail on how to setup the SWCC Agent in a
TruCluster Environment.
CAUTION: Do not install the Agent by using Dataless Management Services (DMS)
or Remote Installation Services (RIS) server installations.
Installing and Configuring the Agent
The following instructions assume that you have a directory /mnt to which you can
mount the CD-ROM. If you do not, you must create a mount point and replace /mnt in
the following sequence with the mount point you created. It also assumes your
CD-ROM device is /dev/rz4c. If not, replace /dev/rz4c with the actual CD-ROM device.
1. Obtain the following information:
— Names of systems you want the Agent to contact
— Names of subsystems connected to the host
— Email addresses for the Agent to send status updates
2. Insert the CD-ROM into a computer.
3. Enter one of the following commands at the command prompt:
— For V4.0x enter:
# mount -r -t cdfs -o rrip /dev/rz6c /mnt
(Substituting rz6c if necessary for your CD-ROM)
— For V5.1x enter:
# mount -r -t cdfs /dev/disk/cdrom0c /mnt
