Upgrading the virtual switch
This release can be used either for the first installation or for software upgrade. For the first installation,
see HP FlexFabric Virtual Switch 5900v Installation Guide.
Strictly perform the following procedures to upgrade software. Software upgrade is not supported when
the VFE is transmitting traffic. To upgrade the VFE, migrate all VMs from the corresponding VDS first.
Upgrading software
1. Upload the system software image 5900v-XXX.tar.gz to the /opt directory on the VCE through
SSH.

2. Log in to the VCE as a root user through SSH.
3. Use the tar –xzvf 5900v-XXX.tar.gz command to decompress 5900v-XXX.tar.gz.
The upgrade and rollback directories are generated.
