Network environment requirements
Make sure the network environment meets the following requirements:
• All physical severs and VMs can communicate at Layer 2.
• The switches directly connected to the hosts support EVB, for example, the HP 5900 Switch Series.
• All the switches are connected using Trunk ports. In this document, a trunk port refers to a port
configured to support multiple VLANs.
• A consistent and correct system time is configured for all devices.

Client configuration requirements
Make sure the client has the VMware vSphere Client and one of the following browsers installed:
• Internet Explorer 8 or later
• FireFox 23 or later
• Chrome 20 or later
For hardware and software requirements for installing the VMware vSphere Client, see the requirements
provided in the VMware vSphere Client documentation.
Licensing requirements
By default, the HP 5900v virtual switch runs a 60-day trial license after it is installed. You can use all
features available with the virtual switch during the trial period. To continue to use the virtual switch after
the license expires, you must obtain and install licenses as described in "Installing the licenses."
