HP FlexFabric Virtual Switch 5900v Troubleshooting Guide

Figure 1 IMC and HP 5900v
The HP 5900v must connect to an IMC server to implement virtual connection management and network
policy application. If the 5900v does not connect to an IMC server, or the IP address, port number,
username, or password of the IMC server is incorrect, the VDP information cannot be configured on the
VMware plug-in on the 5900v, and the VSIs of the virtual machine (VM) connected to the 5900v cannot
get online.
For IMC configuration, see the IMC help.
EVB switch
An EVB switch is an important part of the HP Edge Virtual Bridging (EVB) solution. The HP 5920&5900
Switch Series can serve as an EVB switch. The EVB feature can be applied only when the server where
the 5900v resides connects to an EVB switch, and the physical port or aggregation interface that
connects the EVB switch to the server is enabled with EVB.
For more information about EVB switch configuration, see HP 5920&5900 Switch Series Configuration
Guides.
