To ensure correct operation of your network, HP recommends the following best practices:
• Make sure all HP 5900v virtual switches, including VCEs and VFEs, deployed in the network use the
same software version.
• See the release notes for your HP 5900v release for the latest features, limitations, and cautions.
• Make sure you are aware of the impacts to the network before any configuration, and verify any
configuration changes after implementing the change.

Answer the following questions before locating a problem:
• Is this a newly deployed system or a system that has been running for a period of time?
• Has the host where the HP 5900v is installed correctly connected to the network?
• Are you trying to solve an existing system performance problem (too slow, too high latency,
excessively long response time) or did the problem appear recently?
• What configuration changes happen in the system before the problems appear?

Gather the following information to correctly locate problems:
