Cluster Management VIP
The cluster management VIP, a virtual IP address, provides access to the redundant pair, enabling
administrators to manage and monitor both nodes. This VIP is defined during initial configuration
of the HP VMA SAN Gateway redundant pair and is assigned to the master node. If the master node
fails, the secondary node becomes the master node and cluster management traffic is automatically
redirected to the new master node.
Every HP VMA SAN Gateway in a redundant pair is defined by its node role (master or secondary):
Admin password Setting a password is highly recommended.
Timezone Set the clock timezone by specifying the zone and subzones. Use
"?" to interactively display zone names from which to choose.
NTP server Optional, however specifying a NTP server is recommended.
Email notification
recipients, mail hub, & port
Set recipients to
[e-mail] for HP Customer
Support and at least one email alias for your company, in a
comma-separated list.
Enable HP VMA support Set autosupport to
yes to ensure proper handling of support
issues.
Cluster interface name The interface for inter-gateway traffic. In a single Ethernet-cabled
Gateway, this is eth1. A VLAN can be used instead to separate
inter-gateway multicast traffic from management traffic. If using a
VLAN, the cluster interface name is based on the VLAN ID. For
example, if you use VLAN #10 then the cluster interface name is
“vlan10”.
Cluster expected nodes Set the number of HP VMA SAN Gateway nodes in the cluster.
Note: This is the number of HP VMA SAN Gateway nodes only. Do
not include the number of Memory Arrays. Refer to the

Cluster ID The gateway pair ID can be found in the login banner. The default
is its preset value. Changing the ID is only done with
configuration of redundant gateway pair.
Cluster name The name of the cluster used by the Domain Name System (DNS).
Cluster management
(virtual) IP address
The virtual IP address (VIP) for management of the cluster. The
virtual address is assigned to the master node of the cluster. The
VIP is automatically redirected to the secondary node should the
master node fail.
Cluster management
(virtual) netmask
The virtual netmask for management of the VIP (Virtual IP). The
virtual netmask is assigned to the master node. The virtual
netmask is automatically redirected to the secondary node should
the master node fail.
