Dynamic security Learn about dynamic-security-enabled printers. Certain HP printers use cartridges that have security chips or electronic circuitry. Cartridges using a non-HP chip or modified or non-HP circuitry* might not work. And, those that work today might not work in the future. As is standard in the printing business, HP has a process for authenticating cartridges.
NOTE: Enabling or disabling this feature might require entering an administrator password. Check with your administrator to determine if an administrator password has been set. EWS passwords cannot be recovered. To avoid protecting a new cartridge, disable the feature before installing the new cartridge.
Replace the toner cartridges Replace the toner cartridges if you receive a message on the printer, or if you have print quality problems. Toner cartridge information Review details about ordering replacement toner cartridges. The printer indicates when the toner cartridge level is low. The actual toner cartridge life remaining can vary. Consider having a replacement cartridge available to install when print quality is no longer acceptable.

Any of the following conditions can cause this defect: ● Extreme paper curl ● The paper in the tray is wrinkled or deformed ● The paper is a non-standard paper type, such as envelopes ● The output tray is too full Possible solutions 1. Reprint the document. 2. Extend the output bin extension.
Improve copy and scan image quality Learn how to improve the quality of copies and scanned images, and how to properly clean the scanner glass. Introduction If the printer is having image quality problems, try the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. Try these few simple steps first: ● Use the flatbed scanner rather than the document feeder. ● Use high-quality originals.
Check the image adjustment settings To improve copy quality, adjust the image settings using the printer control panel. 1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Copy icon. 2. Touch the Document or ID Card icon. 3. Touch the Settings icon 4. , and then scroll to and touch the following menu items to adjust the settings: ● Quality: Choose the output quality for the image. ● Lighter/Darker: Adjust the lightness/darkness setting.

The resolution and color guidelines table lists simple tips that you can follow to meet your scanning needs. NOTE: Setting the resolution and color to a high value can create large files that take up disk space and slow the scanning process. Before setting the resolution and color, determine how you are going to use the scanned image.
Edge-to-edge copying The printer cannot print fully edge-to-edge. There is a 4 mm (1/6 inch) unprintable border around the page. Considerations for printing or scanning documents with cropped edges: ● When the original is smaller than the output size, move the original 4 mm (1/6 inch) away from the corner indicated by the icon on the scanner. Recopy or scan in this position.
3. Close the document feeder access cover. Improve fax image quality Review the following information to improve fax image quality. Introduction If the printer is having image quality problems, try the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue.
