2 Requirements and planning
This chapter describes system requirements and recommendations for planning a BC Z system.
System requirements
The following table shows minimum requirements for BC Z.

If you are using the previous version of RWC, which is shown in a secondary window,
you must be in Modify mode to perform pair operations.
RWC
BCM and PPRC are independent functions. Use one or the other.BCM/IBM PPRC
BCM requires a command device. For more information about PPRC, see “Preparing for
Business Continuity Manager, PPRC use” (page 23), “Pair operations using PPRC”
(page 70), the Business Continuity Manager User Guide, and other IBM documentation
regarding PPRC.
Requires a command device when used in In-Band mode, though not for Out-of-Band
mode.
