A Pair operations using PPRC
You can perform BC Z pair operations using TSO PPRC and ICKDSF PPRCOPY commands.
PPRC requirements, commands, and examples are provided in this topic. However, all instructions
for using the PPRC TSO and ICKDSF commands are not provided. For more information, see the
IBM user documentation.
Overview of PPRC commands supported by Business Copy Z
You can perform most BC Z pair operations using PPRC, including the following:
Add pairs.
Add and split pairs.
Split pairs, specifying Steady Split or Quick Split.
Resynchronize pairs, normal and reverse, quick resync/Quick Restore operations.
Delete pairs.
Show pair status and other information.
The following table shows the PPRC commands supported by BC Z.

You can perform certain operations with RWC that you cannot perform with PPRC, including the
following:
Set or reset the S-VOL reserve attribute.
Suspend pairs.
PPRC command requirements
The following requirements must be met:
BC Z must be installed and enabled on the P9500 storage system
The serial numbers of the P-VOL and the S-VOL must be defined according to one of the
following:
Use the same serial number for both the P-VOL and S-VOL.
Use the serial number for the S-VOL, and enter an additional parameter instead of the
serial number for the P-VOL.
